How exactly does your search work?
We are just like a true search engine. When you submit a
search the first item found in the database is returned
first, then the second and so on. If you do not find the
results you want you may need to refine your search.
Can I exclude anything from my search?
BinaryNewz supports boolean searches. This means you can
use AND, OR and NOT. When you search using two or more words
you are automatically using AND and OR. To use NOT simmply
put a hyphen in front of a word you want to exclude such
as "movies -divx". "movies -divx" would
give you all the results for a search for movies but would
exclude anything with the word "divx" in the subject.
Why sign up if I can search for free?
Free searches are very limited as to the results. Paid members
will be able to view 1250 results from a search and have
access to viewable NFO's, a text usenet search and a live
FTP search.
How can I download the files I see here?
We do not offer any files for downloading. If you want to
learn more about Usenet please visit UsenetGuide.com.
But you link to the file after a members search,
why?
The links you see are not ours. They will cause your default
news reader to open and download the files or open the group
on your own server.
Why don't you link to files on the free search?
The free search is intended for users to get a demonstration
of what they would see in the members area. Members are
able to click on the subject to download the articles.
The links do not work for me, how come?
We are using RFC standard links for the articles and groups.
Your news reader may not follow this standard or it does
not understand this link coming from your web browser. Another
issue may be that the group or article does not exist on
your news server. We have tested these links with Agent,
Opera and Outlook Express.
Can I share my BinaryNewz account?
Sure! You may have up to three (3) IP address connect to
your account in a 24 hour period. Any more than three and
your account will be disabled. To get the account reactivated
you must contact us. If your account
is disabled for too many connections we will lower the number
of addresses that can connect. Any further lockouts will
result in your account being removed.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not offer refunds. If you want to test our services
feel free to use the free search, the members search will
be the same thing but with more results and the ability
to click on the subject to download the articles as well
as the NFO search, usenet text search and live ftp search.
If your account is cancelled/disabled due to abuse no refund
will be given. There are some events where we may issue
a refund but those will be handled on a case by case basis.
Does my account renew?
Depending on what type of account yes. Our yearly accounts do not renew, monthly accounts renew monthly.
How many newsgroups do you index?
Our program looks in over 4300 newsgroups, but only around
3300 have posts in them.
How long do you keep records of posts?
Right now we keep headers for eight days. We may decide
to increase this number in the future.
Why did it take you so long to reopen?
We wanted to be solid and useful. There were too many sites
doing manual usenet entries and we wanted to be automatic.
So we took the time we needed and made ourselves as good
as we possibly could. We are still doing improvements to
the site as users suggest them.
I lost my username or password, how can I get it
sent to me?
You can request your password be sent to you by using the
lost password form. Your username and password will
be sent to you automatically to the email address you signed
up with. If that email address is not available you will
need to contact us and we will
need to confirm your identity to send you your information.
Can my customers use your service?
Yes. Please contact us for information
on outsourcing our product.
I don't want you to index my posts! Why do you?
We index all posts on usenet because they are available.
If someone wanted to see them they just need to open a news
client and download headers.
Do you honour the x-noarchive header?
Simply put, no.
The MPAA/RIAA/FBI can see what I'm doing by you
indexing Usenet!
You are fooling yourself if you thought any of those organizations
didn't already know about usenet. If you are posting copyright
challenged material you can trust in the fact that they
may already know. Nothing has changed or will change due
to indexing usenet into a searchable database.
But you're making it easier for them to find me!
How hard is it to open a news reader? We don't offer header
information so they still need a news client of some type
to get the headers to send in abuse reports. The excuse
of us making it easier to find you posting copyright infringing
materials is simply that, an excuse. We do not promote breaking
the law, if you are afraid of being caught then you should
not be posting material that does not belong to you or that
you do not have permission to post.
I see someone has posted my property on usenet, can you remove it?
No, you need to contact the usenet provider this information was posted to in order to have them remove the material.
Is there anyone who can help us prevent people posting our material?
Yes, please contact us and we can send you some information.
